David Lewis Schaefer is Professor of Political Science at College of the Holy Cross. His books include Illiberal Justice: John Rawls vs. the American Political Tradition (2007) and The Political Philosophy of Montaigne (second printing, 2019). He is a three-time NEH Fellow.
